Supervision agreement

This is my standard counselling agreement, I am happy to discuss all aspects of the agreement with you and this is something that I bring into every first session.

Supervision Agreement

This is my supervision agreement. I may update or change my agreement during the course of our work together. I will share any change with you and allow time for you to discuss these changes if you would like to.

General:
Whilst I consider supervision to be supervisee led and I aim to build an I-Thou relationship, to facilitate your processing of your client work, there are some guidelines that I employ to help to build a safe and secure environment for our work together. This supervision agreement forms part of that boundary setting. I am very happy to discuss any and all aspects of this agreement and to make additions to this agreement if you feel it is lacking some clarity that you need.

Please give me as much notice as possible if you will not be available. I may charge for sessions where notice is not given.

I will give as much notice as I am able to if I need to rearrange our session and not less than 1 weeks notice unless it is an emergency.

I charge £60 for a 1 hour session pro rata or for any part of that session.

Payment is by bank transfer or PayPal. If you choose to use PayPal there is a small charge that is payable by you.

I will provide receipts monthly or annually, as requested, for your tax records.

If I need to make contact with you this will generally be between 9am and 5pm Tuesday to Thursday. I choose to email or text which gives us both a written account of our communication.

As your supervisor I am available to you for support in times of uncertainty. If you have need of my services between your sessions feel free to contact me. I may charge if the support needed is substantial, I will discuss this with you at the time. If you have frequent need of support between sessions we can discuss more frequent supervision to ensure you have the support you need.

If working face to face via video, phone or using instant messenger ‘chat’ our session will be at an agreed time.

If working through emails I will spend one hour (or our agreed session time) composing my response to your email (s) and I will send this response to you on an agreed day.

My preferred platforms:
Zoom for video.
Signal for text communication.
Proton mail for email work.

Zoom.
I will send an email including a recurring link to our meeting. This link is exclusive to you and can be used for all of our future meetings regardless of the time or day.

If technical problems occur:
My phone number is 07547 837363 if you are having problems connecting please call me. I will call you if I am experiencing internet difficulties.

If we cannot connect or the connection is poor and is significantly interrupting our session we have an option to change to a phone session or to reschedule our session if we can find a mutually agreeable time.

Email work.
If we are working through email we will have an agreed date for me to respond to your emails.
You can email me as many times as you like and at any time, in the month between our agreed dates for my response.
I will group your emails together and create one response which I will send to you on our agreed date.
I will use Proton mail to ensure security and confidentiality of the email.
I will attach my response as a document.

Text sessions
I use an app called Signal for my text based sessions.
It is available for PC or mobiles and is a free open source app.
It is end to end encrypted
It does not engage in data sharing.
You will need to download this app prior to any synchronous text based session.

Security:
I work from my home office where I am confident I will not be interrupted and our sessions will not be overheard.
Zoom offers end to end encryption meaning our sessions should not be available to view if they are intercepted.
I employ a Zoom waiting room so admittance to our sessions is controlled by me and nobody should be able to access our session without the invitation link and then being admitted.
I access Zoom through my laptop, which is for my personal use only, is password protected and carries the latest updates, including security updates.

I suggest you consider how best to maintain your own practice confidentiality and your personal privacy and comfort during our sessions. Ideally a comfortable space where you can talk freely without being overheard or interrupted.

Confidentiality:
Our sessions are confidential, I will only share the content of our sessions with others in the situations below. Should I need to break confidentiality I will only share the information that is relevant to the situation.

I have regular supervision, this is to ensure my own best and safe practice. I may talk about our work together with my supervisor in a reflective manor.

If you share information which relates to terrorism or money laundering I am legally obliged to report this to the police.

If I believe there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or to another. In this instance I would usually speak to you first, although I reserve the right to break confidentiality without consulting you.

I have an executor to my counselling and supervision practice, should I fall seriously ill or die I have made arrangements for a colleague to contact you. They will inform you of my circumstances, support you as necessary and assist you in finding another supervisor should you wish. I would like your permission to share your name and phone number with this person if necessary.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their ethical framework. If you would like to make an official complaint about our work you can do this through their websites.
